- Do you think that it’s possible for someone in the church today to be deceived the Israelites were as Paul mentions in verses 1-3? If so, what would that look like specifically?
- Read Romans 7:7, Galatians 2:21, 3:19 and 3:24. Explain what Paul is saying in Romans 10:4 specifically relating to the law, righteousness, and the Christ (Messiah).
- What is Paul’s main point in verse 5? Read Galatians 3:12 and Romans 2:13 for help.
- Using the Deuteronomy 30 passage, verses 6-8 explain how righteousness is obtained through faith as opposed to works. Notice the emphasis on the heart in Deut. 30:6-10. What do you think that Romans 10:6-8 means? HINT: It pertains to Christ’s coming down to earth and rising from the dead.
- Verses 9-10 are directly tied to verse 8 with the mouth and the heart. Based on these verses, what is meant by, “The word/message is near”?
- How would the pride of those mentioned in verses 1-3 respond to the statements made in verse 11-13?
