Please pray for understanding and answer the following questions.
1. Paul was warning the Colossians in v. 8 against the gnostics (philosophy), who elevated knowledge above God, and the Judaizers (human tradition) who elevated aesthetic practices above God. Both groups would essentially take them captive, keeping them from the freedom that is in Christ. List a couple groups today that seek to take away our freedom in Christ by convincing us that something else is more important than Jesus.
2. Using v. 8, 2 Cor. 11:3, Matt. 24:4-5, 23-27 – In one or two sentences, state what we’re not to be drawn away from.
3. Why is important to note that God’s entire nature is in Jesus? Heb. 5:9, John 6:66-69
4. These verses in the New Testament reference “rulers” and “authorities”: Luke 12:11; 20:20; 1 Cor 15:24; Eph 1:21; 3:10; 6:12; Col 1:16; 2:10, 15; Titus 3:1. After looking into these verses, explain the implications of the fact that the One over all “rulers” and “authorities” is “filling” or “completing” US!
