Please pray for understanding and answer the following questions.
- In verse 12, there is a therefore. Consider what we talked about last week (verses 5-11) and explain the significance of the context preceding this command toward heartfelt compassion for one another.
- Say out loud to your spouse, “God knows you inside and out. He has chosen you. He has made you holy, and He loves you more than I will ever be able to.” How might this fact effect us if we deeply considered it in the middle of a confrontation with either our spouse or another brother or sister in the Lord?
- In verse 13, forgiveness is required without any mention of an apology. Give an example of how this kind of love/forgiveness might look in the real world. 1 John 4:7-21
- How many times is gratitude referenced in this group of verses (12-17). I believe that gratitude plays many roles in the points being made here by Paul. What connection or purpose do you see gratitude having?
- We are to let the peace of God control our hearts, and the word/message/speech of Jesus the Messiah dwell richly among us. These are strong words. In what ways do you see this happening among us as body? In what ways do you see it lacking? Philippians 4:6-7, James 3:7-18
- Give an example of something you are able to do in the name of the Lord and give an example of something you struggle to do in the name of the Lord.
